Trading ideas, tested in public · nothing is sold here

Most mornings, it decides not to trade.

FX Life is two things, both free. The Lab takes the strategies the internet teaches — and almost never tests — and runs them through a deterministic backtest: rules declared first, costs included, every result published, losers and all. And beside it, the record: my own rules-only system, traded with my own money, every verdict signed to an append-only ledger before the outcome is known. The same honesty bar for their strategies and for mine.

Nothing here is for sale, and nothing here is advice. There is no service, no membership and no list to join — only the tests and the record.

Nothing qualified this cycle — no calls, stand down. Every refusal is still logged and scored. Four newer sealed cycles publish after the daily close.

The evidence

Judge the record, not the sales page.

Every call carries fixed exits set at entry — take-profit, stop, and a same-day close — and is scored automatically against real market data. Winners and losers alike, published to the ledger.

Closed P&L · qualified calls +0.0PIPS No calls are currently open — every figure below is final

Final results of the 11 qualified calls that have exited (take-profit 25, stop 40, or the 21:00 UTC daily close), 5–20 August, wins and losses included. A closed figure never moves once published; still-open calls are shown faded on the chart until they exit.

6–5win–loss, live record
−40.0worst drawdown, live record

Phase 1 – the research that built the rules (20 Jul–4 Aug): the prototype's qualified calls closed −1281.8 pips across 62 calls (23–39). We published every one as it happened, losses included, and rebuilt the rules from what that fortnight taught us: trade only the two morning windows, stand aside when red-flag news is due, stand down after violent moves, and exit mechanically. The live record above opened on 5 August at zero – judged from here on new data only. The full research ledger remains in the download below.

An honest caveat, on purpose: the live record is young and comes from one market regime. We publish every result before its window even closes — because a system you can only trust when the sample is flattering is a system you can't trust at all.

How to read this record

CLOSED Exited trades only. A published figure never moves.
OPEN Still live — shown faded until its exit is final.
REFUSED Signals we declined. Scored and published too, so the filter has to earn its keep.
EXITS Take-profit +25 pips, stop −40, everything flat by 10pm UK. Never hand-managed.
VERIFY Download the ledger below — every cycle carries its own signature, written before the outcome.

Don't trust us. Check.

Every verdict is written and signed before the outcome is known, then scored against public price data. The full file is open — every signal we called, every one we refused, winners and losers alike.

The Lab

Popular strategies, tested in public.

The internet teaches thousands of trading strategies and tests almost none of them. The Lab runs the famous ones through a deterministic backtest — rules declared before the results are seen, costs included, every variant published, losers and all. Whatever the data says is the verdict.

Test 001 — RSI 80/20

The internet's favourite entry, across nine pairs and two decades of data. A 63% win rate that barely beats its own spread — and flips sign when you change an exit rule nobody teaches. Verdict: no usable edge after costs. Read the full report →

How every test works

Entries at the next bar's open, never on hindsight. Spread costs included and disclosed. Where the teaching leaves the exit unstated — it usually does — we test several honest readings and publish all of them. No cherry-picking, no quiet deletions.

Why trust a free test?

Because it's the same bar we hold ourselves to. This site's own system trades real money against a signed public ledger, losses on display. We test other people's strategies exactly as honestly as we publish our own results — and nothing here earns a penny either way.

The pipeline

Three stages. Zero opinions.

Every four hours the same fixed sequence runs. The rules were locked before the first signal was published, and the same inputs always produce the same answer.

STAGE 00 · BEFORE THE MACHINE

Thirty years at the charts — distilled, then locked.

The rules didn't come from a textbook. Three decades of trading — the wins, and more honestly the losses — were distilled into the rulebooks these engines enforce. Then came the hardest step: taking the human hand off the wheel. Experience wrote the rules; the machine applies them without fear, greed or a bad night's sleep. That's the secret sauce — and it's also why it can never drift.

The name FX LIFE is literal, by the way. After thirty years of living and breathing currencies — before work, after work, through the wins and honestly through the losses — trading stopped being something we did and became a way we lived. FX Life was never a brand. It was just what it already was.

STAGE 01

The Engines

Five independent market engines report on every pair: direction, macro regime, volatility state and a ranked qualification score. Every reading — for every pair, every cycle — is logged, whether it leads anywhere or not. Nothing is cherry-picked at the source.

STAGE 02

The Rules

A locked ruleset judges each candidate: entries only at the two morning windows, no pair with red-flag news due on its currencies, stand-downs after violent moves. Refusals are recorded with their reason. Qualified calls get a full order ticket — entry, stop, target — written and signed before the outcome exists.

STAGE 03

The Execution

Qualified calls are placed automatically on a real account, the stop and target attached at the fill — 40 pips against, 25 in favour — and everything closes by 10pm UK. No hand on the wheel, no holding and hoping. Every result is scored against real prices and written to an append-only ledger. Once written, it can never be edited.

The Daily Ledger

One honest page, every trading day.

Every trading day produces one honest page. The morning verdicts exactly as the machine issued them — pair, direction, and the reason for every refusal. Yesterday's calls scored against real market prices, wins and losses side by side in the same font. And a short news brief on what the engines were actually reacting to, written from the data rather than the headlines. No highlight reel, no quiet deletions: if the desk had a bad day, this page says so.

The week ahead

Know when the market speaks.

A handful of scheduled releases — rate decisions, inflation prints, the US jobs report — move currencies further in one minute than a quiet week does, and every one of them is diarised weeks in advance. Our rules treat them as hard boundaries: when a red-flag event falls anywhere inside a signal's holding window, the pair is refused for the day and the verdict says exactly why. Below is the week as the machine sees it — the same data that paints the free Trading Weather page red every morning it matters.

No high-impact releases on the calendar for the days ahead.

What this site is — and what it isn't.

FX Life is a public record of my own trading, and a lab that tests popular strategies honestly. I built the system, I trade it with my own money, and I publish what it does — and what the famous strategies actually did. That is the whole of it. There is nothing to buy, nothing to join, and nobody to become a client of — not now, and not later under a different name.

Why publish at all?

Because a record kept privately proves nothing. Anyone can claim a good year after the fact. Publishing each verdict before the outcome is known, and leaving the losses in, is the only version of a track record worth the name. Come back in a year and check it — that is precisely what it's here for.

Nothing is sold here

No membership, no subscription, no signals, no mentoring, no broker referrals, no affiliate links, no advertising, no mailing list. This site earns nothing from anyone and has no commercial interest in whether you believe a word of it. That is deliberate, and it is the point.

The seal — how you know we're not cheating

Today's engine verdicts are private while they can still be acted on — this is a record, not a signal feed. But the moment a verdict is logged, its cryptographic fingerprint (a SHA-256 signature) is published in the strip at the top of this page. After the daily close, the full verdict is revealed. Because even a one-character edit changes the fingerprint completely, a revealed verdict that matches its published signature proves the calls were logged in advance, exactly as shown — sealed before the outcome, opened after it.

This is not advice

I am not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. I don't take clients, don't manage money, don't give trade calls and won't tell anyone what to do with theirs. Nothing here is a personal recommendation or an invitation to trade. If you want financial advice, speak to a regulated adviser.

Risk warning. Nothing on this site is financial advice, a personal recommendation, or an inducement or invitation to engage in any investment activity. It is a factual record of one private individual's own trading, published for interest. Foreign-exchange and CFD trading carry a high risk of loss and most retail traders lose money. What this system did with my account is not what any other account would do, and past performance — including every figure on this site — is not a guide to future results. If you act on anything here, you do so entirely on your own judgement and at your own risk.

45 signals were scanned across five cycles on Thursday 20 August; 37 were refused — the rules refused 37. The refused pile sits at a combined +234.1 pips on provisional scoring — refusals left pips on the table, and we publish that too.

No qualified call is live right now — the desk is flat. A filter that only shows you its good days is not a filter; it is a highlight reel. This page shows everything.

Next verdict 14:00 UK — and if it says nothing again, that is the system working, not sleeping.
