FX LIFE · THE LAB
The Lab — popular strategies, tested in public
The internet teaches thousands of trading strategies and tests almost none of them. The Lab takes the famous ones and runs them through a deterministic backtest — rules declared before the results are seen, costs included, every variant published, losers and all. Free. Nothing is sold here and there is nothing to sign up to.
How every test works
- Rules are declared in code before results are seen. The exact entry, exits and parameters are printed on every report — if the teaching leaves something unstated (usually the exit), we test several honest readings and publish all of them.
- No look-ahead. Signals fire on a bar's close; entries happen at the next bar's open.
- Costs are included and disclosed. Every trade pays an estimated round-trip spread. Gross figures are published alongside, so you can see how much of a "strategy" is eaten by costs alone.
- No cherry-picking, ever. Every variant we run is published, including — especially — the ones that lose. The verdict is whatever the data says. See our course on how backtests lie for the traps this protocol exists to avoid.
- Small samples are labelled, not hidden. A thin result is reported as thin.
The tests
🧪 TEST 001 · PUBLISHEDRSI 80/20 — the internet's favourite entry
Nine pairs, two decades of daily data, ~700 days of hourly data, three exit schemes. A 63% win rate that barely beats its own spread — and flips sign when you change an exit rule nobody teaches.
VERDICT · NO USABLE EDGE AFTER COSTSThe moving-average crossover
The golden cross and its fast-money cousins. Trend-following's most-taught entry, with the whipsaw bill actually added up.
IN THE QUEUEThe London breakout
Trade the break of the Asian session's range at the London open. Session logic is one of the few things with real evidence behind it — does the retail version survive costs?
